Adendum to May 30, 1999
I just found something else to write about, Marylin Manson.
I do not like his music, I do like Rob Zombie's music, I do not want to silence him or any other artist nor do I believe that anyone has the right to tell anyone else what they can or cannot say, think or do within reason. But I just today saw an interview that Marylin did with MTV (I watch TV more than I should sometimes) and want to say that beyond the music, the several interviews that I have seen with him have given me an opinion of him that I feel needs to be told.
Like I said, I don't like his music but, the man is intelligent, knowledgable and honest about what he believes. He is not out to promote "Satan" nor is he out to make the kids of today part of some cult to worship hate and evil. I believe that he is out to sell records, make money and he does this through his music and his music is about the things he doesn't like in the world, like hate and anger.
This guy has been blamed for the recent school shootings, the deaths of those people in Europe of late, the down fall of humanity and everything else that is bad - just like all the other rockers of past times. Ozzy and Black Sabbath, Megadeath (Dave Mustane is a born again Christian), and the rest.
I have been called a Satanist and I don't even believe in such a being.
We look for places to put blame because it takes our attention away from ourselves and our own faults and shortcomings. The media at this point is doing all it can to feed the fire because if we stop and look, we'll find that much of the anger we have is coming from things that they are showing us like school shootings, the aftermath, the funerals, the web sites, and so on.
Look at home before you look elsewhere for someone to blame for the bad in your life. Then change the problem, make it better and then ask yourself if you have any reason to be angry at anyone but yourself.
Recently I was asked if "Hate Groups" should be allowed to preach on the internet and I had to say yes. I was a part of an organization that fights for YOUR right to be heard in whatever fashion or forum you wish. And everyone else after you. I believe in this country and I believe in the constitution, I have a problem with the president and with the governing body at this time. And I have the right to say that in this forum for everyone to see. And if you don't like what I say you can not read it.
Darwin did not deal with survival of the fittest, it was natural selection - those who were able to adapt survived, those who couldn't didn't. It is a fact. "God" did not create the world in 7 days as we know it. But as an Indian, I believe that the "Great Spirit" did have a hand in what did survive and I feel that he did help so that "we" could.
Don't blame your neighbor before you look in your own home, and talk about what you believe without judging others first.
